Vision Rehabilitation Services
NewView Oklahoma is the only private agency in Oklahoma that provides specialized vision rehabilitation services for the blind and vision impaired, touching the lives of more than 1,000 people each year.

Braille -- NewView Oklahoma provides expert instruction in reading and creating a Braille communications for education, lifestyle management, business and entertainment. We offer individual and class instruction.
Independent Living – We offer individual and group training in the core skills needed for a stable home environment, such as meal planning, cooking and eating; dressing; personal organization; medication management; accessing and reading mail; and financial management.Orientation & Mobility (Safe Travel) – Based on an assessment by a certified O&M specialist, clients are taught techniques for getting around independently and safely navigating home, neighborhood and work environments. Teaching includes techniques for climbing stairs, crossing streets and utilizing public transportation.
![]() Computer Assisted Technology – Our instruction includes computer basics such as keyboarding, email and internet, as well as specialized training in the use of the latest software and adaptive technology available to blind and visually impaired individuals.
Adaptive Type II Diabetes Class – We offer an interactive program designed to promote disease self-management for individuals with type II diabetes. Training is directed by a registered nurse and a registered dietician who specialize in diabetes education and training. Hands-on labs are provided by a certified vision rehabilitation specialist and a licensed occupational therapist. Vision assessments must be conducted at NewView headquarters. However, NewView staff can provide home consultations and private training.
“Aging in Place” Vision Rehabilitation for Older Adults – The “Aging in Place” vision rehabilitation program is designed to keep older adults with vision loss from losing their most precious possession – their ability to live independently. Using a team approach, vision rehabilitation services are delivered to older adults on-site in their respective home environment. This program offers seniors and families the education, training and support needed for the resident to successfully cope with their vision loss.
